--Arthur Dent

Tricia (Trillian) McMillan
Played by: Susan Sheridan (Radio); Sandra Dickinson (TV); Zooey Deschanel (Film)
Occupation: News Broadcaster
Home Planet: Earth
Degree: Math; Astrophysics
Disposition: Never quite at ease with herself.
Tricia McMillan (also known as Trillian) is rather nice ape descendant from the planet Earth. She is picked up at a party in an Islington flat by a man named Phil who claimed to be from another planet. This was intentionally said to be misleading, as his name is not actually Phil - it is Zaphod Beeblebrox. She is taken away by Zaphod about six months before her home planet is destroyed by the Vogons. She and another ape descendant named Arthur Dent are the only human beings to escape the destruction of the Earth. She is also the object of fancy for Arthur Dent, who never managed to successfully get off with her. In another parallel universe, we find out what might have happened if Tricia had not left the Earth with Zaphod (and the planet had not in fact been destroyed) and discover that she is working in television as a News Broadcaster, and seeks for some kind of escape from her life, not being happy with her simple life on Earth. In the universe we are familiar with, we discover she has become an intergallactic News Broadcaster who never stops travelling. As a result, she has developed severe identity issues. Her constant travelling is the result of never being at ease with where she is, and she longs for a bit of the life she never had on Earth. This leads her to artificial insemination with the only Homosapien sperm doner in the Universe.
